#481 - How to Tackle
How to Tackle in Football
Tackling is all about momentum. To make a proper tackle in football, the key is to lunge through the ball carrier while wrapping him up.- The first thing you want to do is angle him up, because no matter how fast your opponent is if you do this properly you will be able to catch up and tackle him.
Tips
- If the ball carrier is near the sidelines, don't waste your energy and try to bring him down. Just push him out of bounds instead. In some cases you might want to just drill him to intimidate him if you are a smaller person.
Warnings
- Never drop your head; always keep it up. If you drop your head, you put yourself at risk for becoming paralyzed.
- Do not lead with your head. "Spearing" the ball carrier with your helmet is a penalty.
- Do not Tackle with your facemask.
