How to Spin a Basketball on Your Fingertip

1) Bend your arm
. Have it bent a bit at the elbow. Next, put the ball in the palm of your hand.

2) Make your wrist flick. This will put spin on the ball. As you do this, throw the ball up into the air about 2-3 inches (5 cm - 7.5 cm). Practice this a bit.

3) Position the ball. Next, after you've gotten it to spin and have thrown it up, put your index finger out and direct the ball to land on it. Make sure it's directly in the center of the ball, otherwise it will fall.

4) Create momentum. Then once you have mastered spinning the ball on your finger to keep it going, slap the ball with left hand on the left hand side 3-4 times to keep its momentum.





Tips
  • Everything listed above is done in the opposite way if you're left handed.
  • Make sure to master one thing at a time, otherwise you will not master this.
  • Trim your fingernails before attempting to spin a basketball on it. It will give you more control.
  • Watch some videos of the "Globetrotters" and learn from their style Moreover, this may help your technique, or at least give you some ideas.
  • Use a poorly gripped ball, not a brand-new one.
  • Use a well inflated ball.
  • When your attempting to get momentum remember do not slap the ball too hard or it might fall off your finger.
Warnings
  • It is possible to jam your finger if you throw the ball too high and it comes back down too hard, so be careful.
